Lammas Spells
Lammas magic lives close to the earth: in bread, seeds, gardens, and the work of our own hands. These simple spells honor the first harvest by noticing what has grown, giving thanks for what sustains us, and making room for what comes next.

The First Harvest Spell
Purpose: Gratitude + recognizing what you’ve accomplished.
Spell: Place a small piece of bread on a plate and set something beside it that represents work you’ve done since spring: a written word, garden clipping, coin, button, stone, anything meaningful. Light a candle and name three things that have grown because you tended them. Eat the bread slowly, acknowledging that you are part of the harvest too. Keep the symbolic object on your altar through Lammas.

The Little Jar of Enough
Purpose: Contentment + abundance without grasping.
Spell: Fill a small jar with a few ordinary symbols of what sustains you: dried herbs, rice or oats, a coin, a seed, a tiny written gratitude. With each addition say, “This is enough for today.” Close the jar and keep it somewhere you routinely see it. When scarcity-thinking creeps in, hold the jar and remember what is already present.

The Cutting Away Spell
Purpose: Release + making room for the coming darker season.
Spell: Write one thing you no longer want to carry on a narrow strip of paper. Take it outside and cut the paper into several pieces with garden shears or scissors. Compost the pieces if the paper is safe to compos or simply discard them. Then prune one genuinely dead leaf, spent flower, or finished herb from your garden or houseplant. Release followed by an actual act of tending.
